Repairs: Thumb Bushings

Imitation ivory bushings can be installed around the thumb hole of recorders if they have been worn by excessive use of the nail for octave technique. This is necessary not only because the worn hole can require the player to contort the hand to make the high notes speak, but some high notes will not speak at all with a distorted thumb opening.

This is a fairly major repair, and ideally players should learn a proper thumb technique so it is not necessary to bush the thumbhole.
